Our dogs have been doing a lot of counter-surfing lately. They are getting into things that are way in the back, on top of the microwave, hidden out of the way. I can just picture the two of them working together, scheming to pull down the compost container.
Well, last night’s escapade in compost-eating resulted in neurotoxicity, which manifested itself in River as a loss of balance and diminished capacity to use her hind legs. It was scary. I barely slept, counting down the minutes until the vet opened in the morning. We brought her in first thing, where they gave her charcoal and fluids. It seems to have done the trick. She’s now wagging her tail and playing with toys and getting around without any trouble.
Needless to say, we will NOT be storing the compost bin on the countertop anymore.
