River dog, 2011. This is an “airplane doodle”—watercolor at 30,000 feet. I believe I drew River and her flip ear on the same flight. There was a very jubilant flight attendant who kept stopping by to check on the progress of the drawings. At one point she grabbed my sketchbook, walked away and returned with someone else’s sketchbook so that I could see the work of the girl sitting in 22A. She also made us wave to each other, which reminded me of when my mother used to try to set me up with her friend’s sons. AKA completely awkward.
After my last post, runthensleep asked for an update on the wedding planning. (Side note: Why doesn’t Tumblr allow you to reply to replies? Technology fail.) Here’s the update: We are in the home stretch, folks. In exactly three Saturdays I will be getting married. So, you ask, is everything all ready to go and buttoned down and from here on out it’s nothing but sweet pre-wedding bliss?
Oh hell to the no! I still don’t have a final head count of guests. I haven’t yet rented linens or glassware (don’t tell my mom—she’ll flip). I don’t even have shoes to wear. I could go on. The point is, I am heinously unprepared.
These next three weeks promise to be the busiest of my life, but with any luck, everything will come together. Here’s hoping, anyway.
