A writer and editor by trade, I love to draw—mostly pictures of my dogs, River and Calla. Here, I post drawings, photos and other artwork of the two cutest animals ever (and some of their very adorable friends). Subscribe to get an email when there's a new drawing. Questions? Contact me. Calla, 2012. Our wedding photographer took this. Soon to be a dog doodle, if I ever find the time to draw again! Photo credit: Bryan Rupp Photography
Calla in Forest Park. A good friend and I went for a bit of a hike in Forest Park this afternoon. We left River at home with her dad (she’s still on bed rest from her broken toe). It was hard to leave River behind, but I think Calla enjoyed having some alone time with her mama. And she didn’t bark at a single hiker we encountered along the way. This is serious improvement.
Look closely—can you see River’s “cone of shame”? She got into a fight with another dog and ended up with two bites, one at the base of her ear and one on her leg. Both required stitches. She spent a long, scary day at the hospital yesterday, so we gave her this get-well-soon toy duck when we picked her up. She’s been carrying it around ever since.
At the coast for a work retreat (yes, we can bring our dogs on a work retreat—how awesome is that?). Took a nice long walk on the beach with a couple of coworkers this evening. Daisy, a photogenic Wheaton, is such a hambone in front of a camera. She moves so fast, though, and before you know you it, she’s pouncing at your lens. I think the top photo may become a future dog doodle…
